In case you were sick of reading posts about chocolate and food on this blog, well... you've come to the wrong place. I happen to love talking about food as much as I love eating it!
My cool Auntie was the lucky winner of an adventure to Cadbury Chocolate Factory.
Sound familiar? Sorry, there's no oompa loompa's today folks, but she did bring home some tiny creatures in the form of Freddo Frogs.
What's the big deal? Well, besides the fact that it's just awesome to go to a chocolate factory store, Cadbury Australia is well known for their world renowned, high quality chocolate.
Why would our Cadbury chocolate be any different from other Cadbury factories around the world? Because we use our home-grown Australian made high quality fresh full cream milk (who'd have thought there was so many adjectives for milk). We're lucky that our country is home to such fine chocolate, since we're so geographically far from the other chocolate centres of the world (Belgium and Switzerland?).
However....
I get the feeling that this is an Australian thing.
We believe that we have world class, amazing chocolate, but the rest of the world doesn't know that. Often when Aussies consider
'what should we bring for our friends overseas'
people suggest cadbury chocolate bars, like our crunchies or picknicks or tim tams. Then when they actually give them away, their foreign friends wonder
'why did they bring me chocolate? It's not like our country doesnt have chocolate, or it's anything special...'
But you see, it is special! It's just that the rest of the world doesn't know that we produce amazing chocolate. So they raise their eyebrows at our tim-tams, knowing that they have a local packet in their kitchen already.
So to all my Malaysian friends out there, if I ever bring you Aussie chocolate, remember that it's because I believe i'm bringing you something special and amazing that you can only get in Australia. Not because I'm too lazy to go any further than Coles...
PS. If you're thinking 'I had some chocolate when I was in Australia and it was kinda yuck, nothing special' then you probably just had one of the crappy brands, or imported ones... OK!? Don't diss our chocolate.
Anyway, on with the story! So my Aunty had the fortune of going to the factory store, and she brought me back all kinds of amazing and spectacular tasty treats. I know it's kind of cruel of me to post pictures, since taste-screen-technology has not yet been invented, but the purpose of a blog is to share my happiness, right?
